A Business Succession Focused on Continuity and Local Know-How
Saint-Magloire, October 5, 2026
J.L. Asselin (1990) Inc., a well-established local grocery store in Saint-Magloire, is beginning a new chapter under the ownership of Gilles Philippe Gagnon and Nadia Coffey, with the support of SADC Bellechasse-Etchemins.
For over 20 years, this family-run grocery store has stood out for its artisanal know-how. Known for its butcher service, its homemade sausages and its prepared meals, it offers the Saint-Magloire community a full range of products and services under one roof.
To support this business transfer, SADC Bellechasse-Etchemins provided total financing of $125,000: $100,000 under Regular Loans and $25,000 under Transfer Strategy. This contribution completed the financing structure needed for the acquisition.
“The people of Saint-Magloire have relied on this grocery store for over 20 years, and we want to maintain that trust. We want to preserve that know-how while allowing it to evolve alongside the community,” say Gilles Philippe Gagnon and Nadia Coffey, the new owners of J.L. Asselin (1990) Inc.
